gaussian splat particle

week 13 - Shots  completion 3

/// Goal ///

To finish the rest of the shot 5~6.

/// Shot 1 ~ 3 Modify ///

This week I made the particle and camera movement more smoothly. Also optimized some particle transition effects.  At the same time,  I Modified the background appearance but the final background will still be composited in Nuke.

/// Shot 5 ~ 6   Completion ///

I created a trail for the rising particles to make the particle effect look more dynamic (especially in terms of color).
Driving while looking straight at the camera was too monotonous, so I added a layer of slower-moving floating particles.

camera design is very tricky in this shot. In the end of this footage I need the camera to shoot on one of the column(though it looks failed). This way I can make an transition between shot 5 and shot 6.

This is a rough render and rough cut, but the results don't look very good.
Some points for improvement:
1.The particles rise too quickly, so in shot 5 the “columns unfolding” effect isn’t visible at the end.
2.The bottom of the rising particle trail is too transparent, making it hard to see where the particles are rising from.
3.The ground is too blurry; replace it with a different one. A wide road would be best.
4.The particle motion of the Statue of Liberty shows unknown tremors.

Trying to add some background particles to the shot 6 to make it look less monotonous (unrendered).

/// Next Plan ///

1. Complete shot 1~2 (including compositing)
